Next time you’re on campus (hopefully for the football home opener on 9/4), look up! Crews are upgrading the traffic signals at McCulloch Rd and Orion Blvd (or McCulloch/Lockwood depending on which approach you are coming from). Instead of being mounted to “span wires”, the new signals will be installed on much stronger “mast arms”. Although not required by FDOT at inland locations, many municipalities like Seminole County are upgrading mast arms to improve strength; these types of systems can withstand winds of over 100mph. They don’t look too bad, either.

Chick-Fil-A in the John T. Washington Center has been closed all summer for some major renovations. The seating area will be expanded to accommodate more guests, and the menu will be expanded as well. The “brand refresh” project will cost almost $400,000 and should complete later this year.
