Next time you’re on campus (hopefully for the football home opener on 9/4), look up! Crews are upgrading the traffic signals at McCulloch Rd and Orion Blvd (or McCulloch/Lockwood depending on which approach you are coming from). Instead of being mounted to “span wires”, the new signals will be installed on much stronger “mast arms”. Although not required by FDOT at inland locations, many municipalities like Seminole County are upgrading mast arms to improve strength; these types of systems can withstand winds of over 100mph. They don’t look too bad, either.

UCF Football “UKNIGHT” banners are now hanging from the front of the UCF Arena. These are similar to last year’s banners; each one is about 25 feet tall! Who’s ready for football season?!

Chick-Fil-A in the John T. Washington Center has been closed all summer for some major renovations. The seating area will be expanded to accommodate more guests, and the menu will be expanded as well. The “brand refresh” project will cost almost $400,000 and should complete later this year.

Sitework for UCF’s new $17,000,000 parking garage is underway. This garage is just west of the new Psychology building and north of Classroom I (which you can see in the background of the photo above).

PPI is set to complete the Physical Sciences Phase II project sometime next month (September). Since our last update, you can see that the installation of the aluminum panels on the exterior of the building is ongoing, and interior finishes are likely well underway.
