The new station for the UCF Police (aka the Public Safety Center) is supposed to complete sometime this month (July 2010). The construction fence has been taken down, and it appears that the finishing touches are being applied to the $10-Million facility. This building is massive compared to the tiny building they are currently using!

UCF’s new Public Safety Center, the replacement building for the Police Department, is in the final stages of construction and is supposed to reach substantial completion sometime in July. The $10-Million, 30,000+ square foot building will house the Police Department, and is shooting for LEED-Silver certification.
The existing building (right next to the new one) will be the new home for UCF’s Environmental Health and Safety department and the Emergency Management department. The school will spend $120,000 to install a traffic signal on Libra Dr. between the two buildings due to the amount of traffic on that road. Many area residents use this road as a cut-through for Research Park or 408 access.
The building was designed by Ponikvar and Associates and the General Contractor is PPI.
